*** APPOINTMENT OF NEW PARISH CLERK - 30th October 2009 ***

The council is pleased to announce that MS SARAH MOORE has been appointed Clerk, effective 1st November 2009. Sarah has been working from Camborne Town Council, and also as temporary Clerk to Crowan Parish Council.

Sarah has also been appointed as Clerk to Mawnan Parish Council, and will work out of the office in Mawnan Smith in both capacities. The office is open to members of the public on Thursday and Friday mornings, from 10.00am to 12.00 Noon.

A handover of responsibilities from John Harrop will take pace during the next two weeks. The council wishes to thank John for his hard work over the years, and to extend its best wishes for the future.

*** VACANCIES ON PARISH COUNCIL - 29th September 2009 ***

*** VACANCY - CLERK TO BUDOCK PARISH COUNCIL - 12th AUGUST 2009 ***

BUDOCK & MAWNAN PARISH COUNCILS wish to appoint new Clerks to the Councils. Hours approximately 22 per week in total. The preferred option would be to appoint one individual to both positions. However, if appropriate, two separate appointments may be made.

*** RESPONSES TO PARISH QUESTIONNAIRE- 29th JUNE 2009 ***

An analysis has been carried out of responses to the Consultation Questionnaire, which was distributed to all households within the council's Annual Report in April 2009.

*** LITTER PICK IN BUDOCK WATER - SUNDAY 14th JUNE 2009 ***

Newly co-opted member of the Parish Council Mr Steve Cotton has organised a working party to carry out a litter picking "sweep" through Budock Water and the surrounding area.

Thanks also to Cornwall Council for supplying a lockable skip, which is to be placed on the car park at Budock Meadery, with the owner's kind permission.


*** CO-OPTION OF NEW COUNCIL MEMBERS - 18th MAY 2009 ***

The Parish Council was delighted to co-opt three new members at its AGM, Mr STEVE COTTON of Budock Water (replacing Martin Fryer), Mrs MARGARET FORBES of Penjerrick (replacing Mr David Brown) and Mrs HAZEL PERHAM of Treverva (replacing Mr Trevor McCabe). This brought the council up to full strength once more.


*** ANNUAL PARISH MEETING TO BE HELD ON 27th April 2009 ***

The Annual Parish Meeting will be held at 7.00pm in Budock Village Hall, immediately prior to the April meeting of the Parish Council.

All electors of the Parish of Budock are invited to attend this meeting, at which local organisations will be able to give reports on their activities during the past year, and any other parish affairs may be discussed, and resolutions passed about them.


*** BT PROPOSAL TO REMOVE THE PHONE BOX ON KERGILLIACK ROAD - 16th Feb 2009 ***

The Parish Council has been informed that BT propose removing this telephone box, which has already been downgraded to cards only (no cash). The matter wil be debated, and the council's response formulated at its February meeting, which will be held in the Lower Hall, Budock Village Hall at 7.30pm on Monday, 23rd January 2009.

As usual, members of the public are welcome to attend and make comment on this, and all other agenda items.


*** EVALUATION OF NOISE REDUCTION MEASURES ON THE GOAL EQUIPMENT AT BUDOCK PLAYING FIELD - 1st Feb 2009 ***

Following installation of a number of measures to reduce the noise from this equipment, it will be re-opened for the February Half-Term period, with the effectiveness of the noise reduction being formally assessed.


*** TENDERS INVITED - FOOTPATHS MAINTENANCE - 26th Jan 2009 ***

The Parish Council is out to tender for the maintenance of Public Rights of Way within Budock Parish. Expressions of interest should be sent to the Clerk on or before 6th February 2009, when an Invitation to Tender will be issued.

Following evaluation of tender submissions, a contract will be awarded for two years, commencing 1st April 2009, with an option to extend for an additional two years.


*** RE-OPENING OF PUBLIC FOOTPATH ALONGSIDE BUDOCK CHURCH - 23rd Jan 2009 ***

The Public Right Of Way from Churchtown to Poolfield Road has finally been re-opened by Cornwall CC, having been closed for over six months, following reports that the wall to the churchyard was bulging and might be unsafe.

Kerrier DC amd Cornwall CC have examined the wall, which it apears has not moved in many years. The path is now open again, and the barriers have been removed. It still remains for Cornwall CC to take away the fallen tree, and give the footpath a general sprucing up.


*** WORK ON STREAM NEAR PATH FROM TREVONEY TO VILLAGE HALL - 16th Jan 2009 ***

The work on the bank between the stream and the fotpath running from Trevoney to the bottom of Budock Village Hall car park has been completed. This should prevent any further undercutting of the trees, one of which will also be trimmed back in the near future.


*** 2009/10 PARISH PRECEPT AGREED - 24th Nov 2008 ***

Following debate at the November meeting of the Parish Council, it was decided that the 2009/10 Precept should be set at £16,125, which will continue to be one of the lowest in Cornwall. This represents an increase over 2008/09 of £1,125 or 7.5%, and equates to approximately £24.73 per Band “D” property (an increase of £1.73 over 2008/09).

In order to continue to keep the Parish Precept at such a low level, all expenditure will be trimmed to the absolute minimum, and the council's Free Reserves will be reduced, as in 2008/09..


*** SCOTT KELLOW (Aged 12) LOOKING FOR SPONSORSHIP - October 2008 ***

Scott is 12 years of age, and lives in Budock Water. He has been selected for the Cornwall Under 13's Cricket Tour to South Africa, in February 2009, and is looking for sponsorship towards the cost of the trip.

*** JULIA GOLDSWORTHY, MP TO ATTEND PARISH COUNCIL MEETING - 29th Sep 2008 ***

If you wish to put any questions to your local Member of Parliament, then please be advised that Julia Goldsworthy will attend the September meeting of Budock Parish Council, and will be happy to take questions and other comments from members of the public. The meeting will be held at Budock Village Hall, commencing at 7.30pm.


*** CLOSURE OF BUDOCK WATER POST OFFICE ANNOUNCED - 23rd Sep 2008 ***

The Post Office has formally announced the closure of Budock Post Office, following the end of the public consultation. However, Cornwall CC has asked for a judiicial review of the entire decision making process. The situation will again be discussed by Budock Parish Council, at its next meeting, which will be held at Budock Village Hall, on Monday 29th September 2008, commencing at 7.30pm.

*** PROPOSED CLOSURE OF BUDOCK WATER POST OFFICE - Meeting on 20th Aug 2008 ***

A further meeting will be held in Budock Village Hall at 4.00pm, organised by Julie Goldsworthy MP.

*** NEW MEMBER CO-OPTED ONTO PARISH COUNCIL - 28th July 2008 ***

At its July meeting, Mr NIGEL HENNELL of Treverva was co-opted onto Budock Parish Council. Nigel's appointment will ensure that the interests of Treverva and Lamanva are adequately represented on the council.

There remains one vacancy for a member of the Parish Council. Should you be interested in joining the council, or just finding out more about the role of the Parish Councillor, then please contact us.


*** CAMPAIGN TO SAVE BUDOCK WATER POST OFFICE - Meeting on 20th July 2008 ***

Budock Water Post Office is on the list recommended for closure. A public meeting is being held in the Village Hall, at 11-00am on Sunday, 20th July 2008, attended by Julia Goldsworthy MP.

Please do try to attend the meeting, to find out what you can do, during the six weeks of public consultation, to help persuade the powers that be to reverse the decision.

Individual members of the public can really make a difference, by writing about the impact of this prospective closure on the lives of local residents. Individual letters will carry more weight than a single letter with an enormous petition.

The matter will also be discussed at the Parish Council Meeting, on Monday, 28th July 2008.


*** AGM OF PARISH COUNCIL - Monday, 19th May 2008 ***

This will be held at 7.30pm, in Treverva Village Hall. A Chairman and Vice-Chairman for 2008/09 will be appointed, along with the representation on committees and to outside organisations.


*** ANNUAL PARISH MEETING - 28th April 2008 ***

This will immediately precede the April meeting of the Parish Council, at 7.00pm, in Budock Village Hall. All electors of the Parish of Budock are entitled to attend. All parish affairs may be discussed, and resolutions passed about them.

Clubs, groups and societies in the parish are invited to the meeting, to give a short report on their year’s activities and plans for the future.

If you are a member of a local organisation, and would like to be part of the meeting, then could you please confirm this to the Parish Clerk before Monday, 21st April 2008. If no representative is able to attend, but you would still like to submit a short, written report, then please pass this to the Clerk before the 28th April.

*** FOOTPATHS MAINTENANCE CONTRACT AWARDED - 25th February 2008 ***

At its February meeting, following a formal tender process, the Parish Council agreed to award the contract for the maintenance of Public Rights of Way in 2008/09 to M Rashleigh & Son, of Falmouth.


*** NEW MEMBER OF PARISH COUNCIL CO-OPTED - 28th January 2008 ***

The Parish Council is pleased to report that Mr David Brown, of Treveryn Parc, has been co-opted as a member, replacing the late Mrs Jean Pengelly.


*** BUDGET & PRECEPT FOR 2008/09 AGREED - 17th December 2007 ***

At the December meeting of the Parish Council, the Budget and Precept fro 2008/09 were agreed The Parish Precept will be increased from £13,500 to £15,000, which is equivalent to approximately £23.20 per Band "D" property, in terms of Council Tax.

*** PARISH PLAN CONSULTATION ..... Also 6th OCTOBER AT AUTUMN FAYRE ***

In conjunction with the Playing Field Committee's Autumn Fayre, a Consultation Meeting on a possible Parish Plan for Budock will be held in Budock Water Village Hall, between 12 Noon and 3pm. A Parish Plan would :-

  - Be a vision for the future of Budock
  - Establish residents’ aspirations & aims
  - Cover all issues that affect the Community
  - Identify actions to take these issues forward
  - Feed in to District & County plans and strategies
If you are interested in being involved in the development of the Parish Plan, then please come along and see us.

*** NEW PLAY EQUIPMENT "LAUNCH" AT AUTUMN FAYRE & BARBECUE, 6th OCTOBER ***

The new play equipment will be installed during the week commencing 1st October 2007, and officially "launched" at an Autumn Fayre and Barbecue, on Saturday, 6th October 2007, starting at 12 Noon. All residents are invited to come along to the Playing Field and Budock Water Village Hall, across the road.


*** BUDOCK WATER CARNIVAL WEEK - STARTS SATURDAY 25TH AUGUST ***

With a full week of activities scheduled, let's hope the forecast improvement in the weather is correct. The Carnival Procession through the willage will be at 5.00pm on Saturday, 1st September.


*** GRANTS & DONATIONS SUPPORT NEW PLAY EQUIPMENT ***

Budock Water Playing Field Committee has been busy fundraising, to enable the existing climbing frame, which was donated back in 1964, to be replaced with a new one designed for 4 to 9 year old's, complying with the latest safety legislation.

A grant from Cory Environmental Trust, supported by a number of donations, has enabled an order to be placed with Taylor Made Equipment Ltd of St Mawgan, for a "Mini Play Unit" and safety surface.

It is hoped that the equipment will be installed by late Summer 2007.

The Playing Field Committee and the Parish Council wish to thank everyone who has helped with fundraising activities. Hopefully, the new equipment will last for many years, and provide many enjoyable hours for the younger children in the community.


*** PARISH COUNCIL UP TO FULL STRENGTH ***

At the Council Meeting of 25th June 2007, the three vacant seats were filled by co-option. The Parish Council welcomes Mr. Rob Gibson, Mr. Peter Gifford and Mr. Ron Tape as new members.
